Wow…We survived the Mayans predicted ‘end of world’ date! The much awaited date of 2012 kept people flustered for many years. However, we passed it and moved on as well. 2012, like all the previous years had its ups n down.
Some events left a huge mark on our memories, while some slipped by without getting noticed. Obama Uncle again won the votes of millions of Americans and slapped Romney hard. Hoping that Mr. Obama will propose rigorous laws for Guns there are no more massacre’s at school, theaters, and Gurudwara’s.
Curiosity Rover successfully landed on Mars and it was yet another triumphant milestone in Space. Believe it or not, the tycoon Elon Musk introduced the new plan of shipping earthlings on Mars in the next decade. Now, that’s what I’m talking about!
Halkat jawani reined the B’town with latka’s and jhatka’s. Fevicol did the work and the audience was hooked to Mrs. Kapoor Khan! Numerous celebrities tied the knot but Ritesh and Genelia left a mark on everyone’s memory with their grand wedding. Legendary Rajesh Khanna and Yash Chopra literally brought the world to a standstill with their departure.
Just when it was time to rejoice and get started with the preparation of New Year, our country contemplated an extremely heinous act by a group of 6 men. Nirbhaya got raped, chastised, insulted, and slaughtered by 6 men because she was one of those ‘dented and painted’ women who had the audacity to stand up for herself. December 2012 witnessed a revolution in India when young and the old amalgamated against corruption and the lawmakers. Nirbhaya created history and her death will not go in vain.
As we leave behind 2012 and embark on another year; there are few things we must summon into our minds. It’s time to get your act together and learn from the mistakes we made in 2012. Let’s start to make some alterations in the society so we can make this entire world a livable place. If we all try to do out bit for the society, then we can expect a change to occur in the coming years.

Recap of 2011
Phew…so where do I begin?! It was the last year of Osama and the best for Obama. Shockingly, we saw the demise of OBL. Definitely takes the top row in every chart. Facebook brought revolution in Egypt and the country joined hands to show the power of people. They no more breathe under Mubarak. It’s a free nation. Libya followed the same footsteps and declared them as a democratic nation. Hail to the power of people!
A year wholly dedicated to Anna Hazare and his team; his fast; his rally against corruption; his dedication to fight until the last breath. India finally opened eyes to corruption and came together with team Anna Hazare. Lokpal Bill got introduced to every citizen of the county and youth decided to stand by in creating a corruption-free India.
It was a year of Chamak Challo and SRK. Kolaveri Di took the country by surprise. Staggering song which made everyone dance to its tune! A year when media anxiously awaited the arrival of Beti Bachchan. This might offend some of the readers but the world seriously revolves around the ‘B’ family.
It was a year when we lost Steve Jobs. The man who invented iPhone and modified the entire meaning of how to use cell phones. 2011 also the demise of Shammi Kapoor, Jagjit Singh, Dev Anand, Surinder kapoor, MF Hussain. It was ridiculous to see condolences tweets every week from countless people. An article can be written alone on the number of deaths witnessed by the world. May they all rest in peace.
2011 will remain the worst year for Japan. A tsunami ripped apart Japan from its place and left catastrophic marks all across the country. God bless Japan. Mother Nature took a toll on almost every continent and gave numerous indications of the so-called-2012-the-end-of-world. So, if it is the last year of life on Planet Earth…live it up guys!
I’m off to create some new moves on ‘Why this Kolaveri Kolaveri Kolaveri Di?’…

Recap of 2010
It sure has been a roller-coaster since Jan 2010… Gosh, where do I begin??? The year 2010 kick-started with the entire media going frenzy over IPL games and Rajasthan Royals bringing home the Cup. Making their curvy lady completely glorious and well-pleased. Should have seen the smile on Mrs. S S Kundra's face! The lady got all the limelight and left no stones unturned in flaunting the victory of her team [of course with the help of immense ghapla and ghootala]. Since we are on the two G’s, I do have a little more to mention on that. Remember the dispute for IPL Kochi team which brought along a name not-so-known in the media until Mr. Shashi Tharoor brought her along with him! Shobhaa De likes to address her as Mrs. Pushy-kar mam. However, hands down, the winner of two G’s was none-other-than Modi sir. Ditto for Kalmadi and the entire corruption issue on CWG games 2010. Can you imagine the biggest ever opening ceremony of Common Wealth Games in New Delhi? I mean, it was fantastically mesmerizing and breath-taking. The cover of the games were complete dhamaal, however, if you dig deep, it is left and right golmaal. Oh, that’s an addition to my two G’s. By the way, it was a pleasure to see Obama Uncle visiting India and celebrating Diwali. Apparently, his visit got higher ratings than Clinton’s.
On a lighter note, my heart goes out to all the people who lost their loved ones in the Mangalore crash. Also, to all the Bhopal tragedy victims and survivors. I still feel despondent towards the court’s decision. After all, the cost of poor has come down to Rs. 25,000 for injured and Rs. 1 lakh for the dead! Consuming poisonous gas is as deadly as a hurricane or earthquake or a landslide. Don’t we encounter enough natural calamities every year, then why create one manually? In addition to the Bhopal Gas tragedy settlement, there was another pending case which announced the verdict this year. Ayodha’s Babri Masjid longed for more than a decade and finally when the Judge gave his verdict it was [as expected] not fully acceptable by many. The court case is never considered a blissful solution as one has to lose, whatsoever! A special mention about Khap Panchayat and Honor Killing, which brings anger and tears to the eyes. Why, just why is such insanity still alive in our country?
Moving on to some B’town gossip! Munni got fully badnaam in order to make Dabangg a successful hit! A well composed effort from the Khan Parivaar. The feud continues on between Salman Khan and Mr. Bachchan. Way to make it obvious guys! With Bigg Boss airing and providing with any and every ridiculous, cheap and derogatory ideas, it came down to Pamela Anderson [the porn star] and Dolly Bindra [C grade actress] to boost the TRP against AB’s KBC. Karan came back with his hot brewing Koffee and opened doors to the secret life of our much known celebrities. As if we were short on buzz town gossip! Vivek Oberoi decided to get hitched and got over the bhoot of Ash. Not many block buster hits except for a few. Aside from Bollywood, I can’t stop myself from mentioning the most famous site of the year: Facebook. So, Facebook, let’s tweet?
WOW… What a year! From 3G’s to IPL to CWG to controversies’ to verdicts to honor killing to Munni… sigh! This is India, dost !
